ECU School of Arts and Humanities graduate Lorraine Sindel was named the 2017 WW Mitchell Student of the Year at the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) WA State Awards for Excellence last Friday.
Lorraine was one of the two top students nominated by ECU, with Jonah Highman the other nominee. They were joined by fellow finalists who represented the state’s three PRIA accredited universities (ECU, Curtin University and Murdoch University) as the top performing public relations graduates of 2016/2017.
Each finalist was given a brief and two weeks to prepare a strategy. They had 20 minutes to present their strategies to a panel of three judges which addressed a key issue facing the PR industry.
Judges noted the high standard demonstrated by each finalist and in particular, Lorraine’s composure under pressure as well as her creative yet strategic approach.
As the top PR student of the year, Lorraine has won an $800 corporate wardrobe starter voucher provided by sponsors, Perth public relations powerhouse, Mills Wilson.
