Big Win for Youth Work Student

Youth Work

ECU Bachelor of Youth Work student Jemma Gardiner has won the Youth Work WA Central Institute of Technology Emerging Youth Worker Award for 2015.

As part of her second year Professional Field Placement Jemma joined Youth Futures in Joondalup, a non-government organisation that provides multiple support services to young people including accommodation support for youth in crisis. As part of the Crisis Accommodation team Jemma works directly with homeless young people in unique and challenging situations.

Her exemplary contribution to the organisation was recognised at the awards Gala in November where she nabbed the prestigious nod.

Jemma has secured part time employment in the crisis accommodation program at Youth Futures and continues to contribute to her community by volunteering with the St Vincent de Paul Society.
